Summer days

Summer is in full swing. With beautiful, breezy, skeeter-free weather this weekend, we got in a lot of fun. Here are some highlights:

* On Saturday we walked over to the fancy neighborhood down the street for their annual garden show. The tickets were pricey so we ogled the mansions from the street but got to have lunch on the lake with the rich babies and mommies!

* Charlie loves to scoot and wiggle across the floor. He loves playing with the blow-up log Baba got him, and he bites and chases it all around. We finally had to buy safety gates for the many stairs in our house! Check out the video of him wrestling with his new favorite toy.

* Charlie outgrew his infant carseat (it was supposed to a year....hmm...) so we got the next step up. Billy is annoyed, because he thinks it's the size of an armchair, but Charlie seems to like it.

* Charlie has learned to undo the velcro on his diaper. As you can see in the picture, we often find him just moments away from disaster!

* Charlie loves eating peaches that are skinned and put in his nuby feeder. It has a soft net that holds the food so it's safe for babies, but he can feel the solid food in his mouth. It makes a mess but he gets so excited--waving the food around in the air and hollering gleefully between bites-- that it's totally worth it.

* Billy went to a bachelor party and Charlie was so offended that he wasn't invited that he cried all night. It was hard to know if he was crying about all the big-boy fun he missed or if some more teeth are going to appear.

* We strolled around Olbrich gardens on Sunday and let Charlie stroke the lamb's ear and play with the shooting water fountain.

This little plastic tube reminds me of my Gymboree days. I actually bought it before I even knew Charlie was on the way. It is so special to watch my own, healthy, active, strong grandson playing with it.

I hit "anonymous" by mistake on the entry with Charlie crawling. It was actually me, Baba, who wrote that entry.
