Sorry about the awful quality of the pictures this week. I bought a $10 digital camera to fill in until we get our real one back, and it turned out it is really worth $10.
Charlie had his 18 month appointment today. Our big baby has turned into a slender little boy; he's in the 37th percentile for height and weight. When the doctor came into the room, he walked up to her in his diaper and earnestly told her--with lots of enthusiastic hand motions-- about his belly-button. I could tell he knew the appointment was about him and he wanted to do a good job. Our wonderful doctor listened to his baby-gibberish with a serious expression, and even put the stethoscope on his tummy and nodded approvingly. Charlie seemed to feel the belly button examination went well, and sauntered back over to me with a proud smile.
Lately Charlie has been really into water. The other day we were driving in the rain and I told Charlie that rain is water. He was quiet for a few minutes and then started pointing to the rain and saying "wa-wa!" When we got out of the car he pointed at puddles and wet cars and said wa-wa over and over. It was cool to watch him make the connection. Bath time has become one of Charlie's great pleasures, and I'm excited to let him play in the pool at the Heidel House this weekend.
On another note, today is our 5 year anniversary! I've been thinking about the anniversary trips we've made to the Heidel House over the past 5 years and feeling nostalgic about how much things have changed.

Bad Camera!...as you and Charlie call things that hurts him. Wow, he looks so much like a little boy, what a change from just 2 months ago when you were here for Easter.
Carlies doctor's visit is a good example of Baba's advice, "How ever bad or good Charlie is being take heart because young children's behavior is always changing". Point in fact, we called him "Moose" because he was such a BIG BABY during your pregancy, he started out in the 90% as a new born and baby and we bought him clothes several sizes bigger than his age, and now he has slowed down in growth to what we would expect of a baby of yours and Billy's, compact and sturdy!
Charlies latest visit to the doctor's pretty sums up the major differences between mama and baby. The ever outgoing and confident Charlie took over the visit by showing the doctor his belly button with much gesturing. The equally confident, and more profecent talker at 18 months, Courtney, ran away from the doctor at her 18 month appt., hid from him, and said "no no Dr. Dugger". This has pretty much been her opinion of doctor appointments throughout her life and today!
