Opening Day

Today is Opening Day for the baseball season, which is a "holiday" I didn't used to get too excited about. Billy, on the other hand, looks forward to this day all winter long. When he was growing up his mom made the day feel special by serving hot dogs and chips and having everyone dress in Reds gear, and Billy can't wait to share this tradition with Charlie. Seeing Billy and Charlie together makes me want to carry on the tradition, too, so tonight we're making brats and we're all wearing Reds outfits (thanks to Grandma Meier!) Last week we got free tickets to the Brewers game because Charlie opened his first savings account and it just so happens they're playing the Reds! So Charlie will get to go to his first baseball game soon.

Charlie's latest move involves flinging his arms and legs around like a ninja while sticking out his tongue and furrowing his brow in concentration. He likes is when he scares us, and frightened gasps from us makes him move faster. Charlie also loves it when we pull him to a sitting position, because it gives him the momentum to dig his feet in and stand. I included a video of him doing this. It reminds me of a little gymnast.

Having a Coach for a father and attending all sporting events for the first 5 years of your life didn't bring you to the "Sports Side" of life, but the love of your husband and his family has and I think that's great!
