I'm writing this blog from my parents' house in Elkins, WV, where we're having a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving, Charlie's birthday, and Christmas. Such a wonderful time, in fact, that this trip has been well worth the effort it took to get here: the three of us (and one of my clients) left at 5:30am and drove three hours to O'Hare, waited in long holiday lines, flew to Pittsburgh, left my client with her sister, waited two hours for my brother's flight to arrive, then drove three hours into the mountains to the small town of Elkins. And all this with our high-energy one year old! But we survived--and even had fun!
So far we've been busy busy busy in Elkins. Charlie was reunited with uncle Cam, tried his first taste of turkey at Buck and Joni's beautiful home, played basketball with the big boys, opened birthday gifts and had a little party in the gym (pre-school teacher Baba even brought out her trusty parachute!), visited with his great-cousins, aunt and uncle, and had "Christmas" with the Wilsons. Charlie has been on a bit of an emotional roller-coaster with all the excitement, new faces, and noise.

What a magical time had by all...Court and Billy are the perfect parents to the rambunctious Charlie and shared him with ease to the Wilson side of the family. Of course a trip to the gym was in order and Charlie wasn't intimmated one bit. He is busy telling everyone all about it, "gada, gada..."
