What a great couple of days we've had! Katie and Jack drove up from Columbus and Jon and Nicole came from Chicago for what felt a little like one last "grown-ups only" weekend. It was so much fun having a full house and being with our friends. After a whirl-wind beginning to his semester, Billy, who is still working for the Aldo Leopold Foundation in addition to teaching his own class in the history department, particularly enjoyed a Saturday of football, pizza, and good friends. As always, I loved spending time with Nicole and Katie.
On Sunday, Katy and Lindsay hosted a very fun (and beautiful) co-ed shower. A long time ago, I think after attending the admittedly frou-frou shower of some college friends, Billy made the rule that he doesn't "do" couples' showers. Amazingly, Lindsay and Katy were able to change his whole perception of the dreaded baby shower by hosting a laid-back cook-out with delicious food (including hearty man-friendly things like beer and brats alongside salads, lemon bars, and mojitos) the perfect setting (Lindsay's fabulous backyard and deck) and the absence of any baby-themed games. We had such a great time, and it was really cool for Billy to get to be part celebrating our little guy's arrival.
