The House of Horrors....

It was a dark, still night. The shrieks of drunken co-eds echoed on the otherwise empty street. An oldish lady, who had stupidly stayed up late to watch the Daily Show, dragged her tired, aching bones into bed. She sighed as her head sunk into the pillow. Ew. She hadn't brushed her teeth. Oh well.

She breathed deeply and tried to melt away the memories of her nightmarish day, but it was hard to forget the screaming, biting, hitting, growling, and large quantities of poop that had pretty much defined it. And yet she fell into a deep sleep within moments.

Suddenly, her eyes flew open. She glanced at the clock: 11:47. Creak...creak...creeee-aak. Someone, or something, was moving. She gulped and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to will the noise away. A moment of silence and then....

"Mommy? Hello, Mommy? Helloooo?"

She tumbled out of bed and felt her way through the darkness. "Don't wake your brother...please don't wake your brother" she pleaded as she approached the crib, felt around the sheet, and found the pacifier. She jabbed it into the darkness, at what appeared to be the creature's mouth-hole, and the racket stopped. Relieved, the exhausted woman crept back toward her warm bed.

All seemed well... but was it???

"Help! Mom, Daddy! Help me!" The clock glowed 12:52. The woman was back on her feet in less than a second, racing blindly into the darkness, knowing in her heart she was too late...

"Mommy, my bed is wet." Noooooo!!!!!!!

Ten minutes later she plopped the reasonably cleaned up but somewhat stinky three-year-old in her own warm bed and squeezed in next to him. He pressed his soft cheek to the woman's chest and murmured "Will you get me some water?" She groaned and rolled out of bed. "Wait!" he called as she slipped out of the door, "with ice in it."

As the zombie-woman set the ice water on the bedside table and started to crawl into her crowded and smelly bed, she heard it... the low moaning... the creaking mattress...

The little monster was awake again. And she knew that this time he wouldn't be satisfied with his pacifier. This time he would want her soul.

After nearly an hour of rocking, singing, pleading, and possibly some tears, the walking dead woman slithered into the tiny space left in her bed. It was 2:30. As she drifted into an uncomfortable sleep she prayed that the children would sleep until 5:30. "Just three hours. Just give me three hours" she begged. At 4:30am, she discovered her prayers had been ignored.

The little monsters were stirring and it was time to start their day...again. But the trick was on them...for she had turned into a...um...witch...during the night! Hee hee hee!

*Author's note: This horrific occurrence is not unique to Halloween Night. This is pretty much how we roll.

LOVE the boys costumes! Little Jimmy is just killer! Thad had a blast trick-or-treating, he got a lot of "howdy partners". Kaz fell asleep while we were out!:) Miss you guys!
